Fun in the sun

Our later living schemes in Kent always look forward to their annual coach trip.

The latest trip saw 45 residents from our later living schemes Hardwick Court, Baltimore Place and Miller Court, embark on an adventure to the scenic seaside town of Ramsgate. The adventure meant a day filled with joy and camaraderie.

The trip was put on by one of our Scheme Officers, Wendy Woods, who’s been working at Hyde for 20 years and enjoys organising social events with her residents.

The journey began at Erith, with stops in Bexleyheath and Welling, and the coach was filled with songs, laughter and stories.

In Ramsgate, the day included sightseeing, lunch, coffee and ice cream. Some residents even enjoyed amusement arcade activities or made it a shopping trip.

The highlight of the trip was the leisurely stroll along the coastline – where the colourful sight of yachts docked on the harbour brought smiles to their faces.

Wendy said: “These events give our residents the opportunity to get out for the day and provide a change of scenery. They are also really valuable to their mental health and wellbeing.

“I’m so happy and proud that the trip was a success and look forward to planning more like this.”

The trip was funded by Hyde contractor, Bell Decorator, through Match My Project – our social value initiative.

Hardwick Court resident and Chair of the Tenants and Residents Association (TRA), Bob said: “We’re so grateful to Bell for funding the trip and giving us a day out – one to really remember. Thank you to Wendy too, we know how hard she works to do these things for us.”

Bob also joked that the best part of the trip was when the group serenaded Wendy with Tina Turner’s, ‘She’s simply the best’. “It was actually in key”, he commended.

Thanks to Arthur, Surveyor from Bell Decorator who joined us on the trip.
