Home Start Chichester and District is a charity working with local vulnerable families, who may be experiencing challenges like poor mental or physical health, bereavement or financial challenges.
The charity wanted to provide a much needed day out for families over the summer. So, as Home Start is one of our partners, who better to make this happen than Sarah, Hyde’s Projects and Partnerships Manager.
Sarah suggested using Match My Project (MMP), our social value meeting platform. A match was found - Purdy, who really wanted to support the families. Purdy kindly offered to cover the total cost of the tickets for a day out to Aldingbourne Country Centre in Chichester, and a train ride on top. Eight families attended altogether – 10 adults and 13 children.
Community Transport Sussex provided free transport for the outing.
A great day out
Lois Rowlands, Home Start Chichester and District, said:
“It really was a fabulous day out. The children had fun playing in the soft play area, at the outdoor water and sand area and of course, visiting and petting the animals.
Everybody enjoyed a picnic lunch together, and children made the most of the large hills by having rolling races down them.
The trip was a wonderful opportunity for families to make friends, feel supported taking their children to a public space, and witnessing how much they enjoyed playing together with others.
The impact of the trip was huge; for some this wouldn’t have been possible without the generosity of Hyde.”
The families certainly enjoyed the trip, saying:
“I was so nervous about coming today but my child had so much fun.”
“I want to do more trips!”
“My little one loved the freedom of running free and playing with the other children”
Thank you to Match My Project and Purdy for giving the families a day to remember.
