Adur councillors joined us to celebrate the start of construction of 159 affordable homes
Thanks to our strategic partnership with Homes England, all of the homes being built on the former site of the Adur Civic Centre will be affordable, even though the Local Plan requirement is that only a minimum of 30% must be affordable.
Speaking at the official ground breaking on 11 March 2024, Cllr Neil Parkin, Leader of Adur District Council, said: “This is a very important scheme for Shoreham, which will provide much-needed social housing for local people. There’ll be 53 homes available for social rent, which will be let to people on the council’s housing register. The remaining 106 homes will be available for shared ownership through Hyde.”
Guy Slocombe, Hyde’s Chief Investment Officer, said: “We’re delighted to start work on these homes. Together with our nearby scheme at Kingston Wharf, where we’re building 255 flats, we’re currently creating affordable homes for about 1,200 people in Shoreham.
“We’re committed to creating diverse communities, which is why we’re offering a mix of social rent and shared ownership homes on all our developments; shared ownership is a fantastic way for people to get on the housing ladder.
“We look forward to working with the council on this, and on many more, schemes in the future.”
The new homes are being built by our contracting partner PMC Construction. Extensive landscaping is a key part of the design, including planting of 28 trees.
