We welcome our new Digital Communications Apprentice

About my digital communications apprentice role:

I’ve recently joined the Hyde Group as a Digital Communications Apprentice after finishing my A levels. My role includes supporting with managing and updating Hyde’s social media platforms such as Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter. I also monitor and respond to website feedback to inform customers and help meet their needs. Alongside this, I dedicate time for my apprenticeship course assignments.

My first week at Hyde:

During my first week, I had an induction where I met other apprentices. Everyone was so kind and made me feel part of the team straightaway, which helped settle my nerves  at starting somewhere new. In my induction, I learnt more about the organisation, the different learning platforms I’ll be using, and I had a one-to-one meeting with my manager who answered all my questions.

Why choose an apprenticeship scheme with Hyde:

I think that schools and colleges should become more aware of apprenticeships, so they’re seen just as worthwhile as university. You can gain experience working straight away from day one which is so valuable in today’s society. I’m delighted to be an apprentice at the Hyde Group because they’re supportive towards your learning and future career. Despite having only recently joined the company, I feel that I’ve already learnt so much from my inspiring and helpful team.

My tips for future apprentices:

  • Always get stuck in with every opportunity that is thrown at you! That’s how you get the most out of your experience and you won’t regret it.
  • Secondly, don’t be afraid to speak up or bring new ideas to the table. It’s normal to be nervous on your first few days as it’s something completely new, but confidence is key and will help you along your journey of being an apprentice.
  • Lastly, look for opportunities to work and learn with other areas of the company such as being taught a new skill or project. There’s so much opportunity at Hyde and I’m looking forward to making the most of it.
