We’ve achieved silver in the Sustainable Homes Index for Tomorrow (SHIFT) assessment, and were ranked 13th out of the 40 organisations that were assessed. SHIFT is an independent body that helps building owners to be more environmentally friendly.
Luke Driscoll, our Asset Management Director said: “I’m really pleased to say that we’ve received a silver award in our first assessment after joining SHIFT back in March. This’ll help align a lot of our priorities and set out a clear plan to reduce our carbon footprint.
"It’s a great result and we can now confidently look to achieve the gold award next year. Considering that this is the first time we’ve joined SHIFT, this is an excellent outcome for Hyde and demonstrates our commitment and the work we’ve completed in line with our own sustainability objectives”.
This report assesses our sustainability performance from 1 April 2021 to 31 March 2022 across:
- Strategy and leadership
- Existing homes and offices
- Supply chains and operations
- New builds.
The report also gives an overview of our environmental footprint and evaluates things like our use of energy, how we travel, climate risk, biodiversity and how we source our contracts and suppliers. It even considers how we engage with our customers.
Diana Lock, our Energy and Sustainability Manager said: “SHIFT is the sustainability standard for the housing sector. The findings of this assessment will be used to monitor our environmental credentials and identify areas for improvement.
As a member of SHIFT, we’ll be able to show the work we’re doing towards some challenging, but necessary environmental targets.”
