We’re proud to announce that we were awarded the ‘Highly Commended’ prize in the Best Diversity and Inclusion Strategy category at the Engage Awards.
The Engage Awards recognise ‘innovation and excellence’ in both customer and employee engagement.
The award recognised how we ensure that diversity and inclusion is at the forefront of Hyde – from our Board right through to our frontline teams. On the night, we battled it out against huge household names in our group including pharmaceutical giant GSK, with Lewes Football Club scooping the top prize in the category.
Sue Bunt, our Head of Organisational Development said:
“This is a fantastic acknowledgement of how we’re fully committed to bringing diversity and inclusion into everything we do at Hyde. With a diverse workforce and an equally diverse customer base, we wanted to make changes that will really make a difference – to colleagues and our customers.
“Receiving a ‘Highly Commended’ award shows how hard we’ve worked: forming staff network groups to educate, challenge and improve; creating Hyde’s inclusive interview panel pool - ensuring that all our interview panels are ethnically diverse to help eliminate unconscious bias from selection decisions; to creating a Junior Board, offering development opportunities for younger employees. We’re looking forward to sharing our approach and successes with the wider sector.”
We were also finalists in the 'Best Use of Innovation in Customer Engagement' category for last year’s Customers Connect digital conference. The nomination highlighted how our conference was about listening and then acting on customer feedback –everything from estate services to repairs.
