We’ve been awarded gold in this year’s SHIFT assessment for demonstrating our commitment to sustainability. We were ranked 9th out of 40 organisations that were assessed.
Luke Driscoll, our Asset Management and Sustainability Director, said: “This is our second gold award in just three years of being part of the SHIFT sustainability standard. We’re committed to advancing our sustainability initiatives and setting new benchmarks for what can be achieved in the industry.
“This award demonstrates our commitment to sustainability and recognises and rewards the efforts we’ve made as we work towards our net zero carbon goal.”
SHIFT is an independent body that helps social housing associations to be more environmentally friendly, and our performance was assessed on the following:
- Customer engagement
- Our existing homes and offices
- The new homes we build
- Our direct labour force and supply chain
- Our operations, including strategy and management.
The SHIFT assessment is an evaluation process that measures organisations impact on the environment, their social responsibility and governance practices. Earning the gold award signifies that we’re meeting industry and regulatory standards in sustainability.
Diana Lock, Energy and Sustainability Manager, said: “This accomplishment wouldn't have been possible without the dedication of our teams, customers, partners and stakeholders.
“As we celebrate this achievement, we remain focused on our ambition of becoming carbon neutral by 2050. We’ll use the findings of this assessment to monitor our environmental performance and identify areas for improvement as we continue our hard work towards making our homes, offices and supply chain as environmentally friendly and sustainable as possible.”
