No one left behind

Residents at Scott Close, our later living (sheltered) scheme in Norbury, are now more equipped to manage their Hyde account online following an afternoon with Hyde colleagues for a MyAccount workshop.  

MyAccount is our free, safe and secure online service that customers can use anytime, anywhere to manage their home.  

The workshop was organised by Kelly Ha, a Hyde Housing Scheme Officer, as part of our ‘Lounge Online’ initiative.  

Lounge Online aims to support our older residents with getting online and becoming familiar with the internet. We’ve connected many of our communal lounges with free, secure Wi-Fi and provided laptops and tablets that residents can borrow.  

For some people, going online can be daunting - especially not knowing where to start. Kelly, who’s only been working at Hyde for just over a month, is determined to ensure that no one is left behind. 

She said: “Funnily, I learned about MyAccount through my mum who happens to be a Hyde customer. I helped her sign up – and now she uses it to pay her rent, contact Hyde and report any repairs.  

“I want to be able to support my residents to live the most independent lives they can. Most things are digital these days and I don’t want them getting left behind. So, I started the MyAccount workshops, which also support them with using the internet for things like online shopping, paying bills and keeping in touch with loved ones.” 

Kelly plans to continue organising these and other events to not only build her relationship with her residents, but to also bring them together, fostering a sense of community. 

Scott Close resident, Iggy, said: “Kelly let us know about the workshop by putting a notice on the noticeboard. I saw it and thought – I want to log into MyAccount, especially to report any repairs instead of holding on the phone. And I took the opportunity to report my repair right then and there, while I was getting set up and got a feel for it and it wasn’t too difficult.” 

Kelly started her role at Hyde following the recent launch of our Neighbourhoods and Specialist Housing service. The service aims to improve our services and bring us closer to our customers and the communities we serve. 

We now have a designated Housing Scheme Officer for every one of our later living schemes, ensuring more vulnerable customers receive the dedicated support they need.
