Planning approved for 159 new affordable homes in Shoreham-by-Sea

We're delighted to announce that our plans to deliver over 150 affordable homes on the former site of the Adur Civic Centre Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex have received planning consent.

On Wednesday 2 March, Adur District Council met and approved our plans to redevelop the site between Brighton Road, Eastern Avenue and Ham Road.

A total of 159 one, two and three-bedroom homes will be built, in one six-storey building and one nine-storey building. We've incorporated commercial space on each of the ground floors and extensive landscaping is a key feature of our design.

Thanks to our strategic partnership with Homes England, all of the homes will be affordable – with 99 homes for shared ownership and 60 for social rent.

Andy Hunt, Associate Director Land and Planning said: “There are many people currently on the council’s housing waiting list who need a home of their own, so we're absolutely thrilled that we can help and provide the homes that local people really need.”

Cllr Neil Parkin, the Leader of Adur District Council, said: “For many people in Adur, the idea of owning your own home is just a dream because of rising property prices. For those who have to stay in emergency accommodation, just knowing they have somewhere they can call home long term is a huge relief.

“The new homes on the civic centre site will mean a better life for hundreds of local people in both of these situations, right in the heart of a vibrant community.”
