The Executive Mayor of Croydon, Jason Perry, visited the site of our new affordable housing scheme in Waddon, Croydon.
We’re building 126 homes, including 70 for shared ownership and 56 for social rent, along with community gardens and a central play area.
Councillors joined the Mayor on a tour of the site, visiting some of the part-built flats and houses, which range from one-bedroom to three- bedroom homes.
Mayor Jason Perry said: “I’m very proud that more affordable housing is being built in Croydon through partnerships like this one with Hyde. Whether that’s social rent, or helping people get on the housing ladder through shared ownership, it’s great to see new homes, and a commitment to community living.”
The new homes, which are being built by our contractor Formation Design and Build, are expected to be finished by September 2025. We’re also drawing up plans to build on a neighbouring site, expanding the community even further.
Steven Morrice, Development and Sales Director at Hyde said:
“At Hyde, we consider ourselves more than just a landlord. Of course, we're a developer of much-needed new affordable homes, but we’re also committed to the communities we create and the people who live in them.”
Our Communities team also partners with local groups, helping to fund youth activities across Croydon. This includes 40 weekly youth clubs, holiday play schemes, community fun days and creche events. As well as different employment programmes in the area.
