Foreshore - building safety

We’ll be posting the latest news for our Foreshore, Deptford customers here, so please bookmark this page to stay up-to-date on the work we’re doing to keep everyone safe.

Latest update - 21 June 2024

We’re working with our consultants and Lewisham Borough Council to plan the best option for completing remediation works at Foreshore.

Foreshore is a listed building, which means Building Control needs to approve all proposed remediation programmes of work before anything can be finalised. Unfortunately, this can be quite a detailed process and is taking longer than we hoped.

We’re sorry for the inconvenience this may cause and reassure you that we’re doing everything possible to speed this along.
We’ll aim to provide you with an update in 12 weeks, even if the position has not changed.

Please see our Foreshore frequently asked questions. We hope these answer your questions about the remedial work

Project: What we are doing

An independent fire expert has identified compartmentation issues at Foreshore, which meant we had to change the building’s evacuation policy from ‘stay put’ to ‘simultaneous evacuation’, which must be supported by a waking watch. We’re currently exploring options for remedial works.

Programme

We will update customers with a programme of works once a contractor has been appointed.
