Being able to live independently, while knowing support is there when it's needed, can make a real difference to people's lives. That's why we’re continuing to invest in telecare services across our later living and supported housing homes.

Telecare technology and 24-hour monitoring help customers get support when they need it, whether they've had a fall, need emergency assistance or an alarm is triggered in their home.

As part of our commitment to this service, we’ve agreed a new long-term partnership with Taking Care, who already provide our telecare monitoring service. This means customers will continue to get the same trusted support they rely on every day, with a familiar service in place for the long term.

Each year, our later living and supported housing homes generate around 40,000 alarm activations, from emergency calls and wellbeing checks to routine testing. Every activation receives a response from trained operators who can assess the situation and arrange help if needed.

The service also supports a growing range of technology designed to help people stay safe and independent at home. This includes fall detectors, medication reminders and sensors that can detect risks such as flooding, overheating or smoke.

Neal Ackcral, Hyde’s Chief Operating Officer, said:

"People want to live independently in their home for as long as possible. Telecare plays an important role in making that a reality.

"It gives customers and their families reassurance that they’re not on their own if something happens at home. There’s someone there to answer, listen and help get the right support in place.

"By continuing our partnership with Taking Care, we're investing in a service that supports independence today and will help us introduce new digital technology in the years ahead."

The partnership will also support our move to digital telecare services ahead of the UK's analogue-to-digital switchover, helping ensure customers continue to receive a reliable service.
