FAQs

  • How do I use the voucher?

We’re sending out the vouchers in June – we’ll share information from Trutex on how to use your voucher by then.

  • Who are Trutex?

With over 160 years of expertise, Trutex are one of the UK’s leading schoolwear brands.

You can read more about them on their website: www.trutex.com/about-trutex

  • Can I only buy uniform from the Trutex uniform website?

Yes - you can only use the voucher on the Trutex website.

They do supply plenty of non-branded uniform and have a range of items to suit different budgets – everything from polo shirts to tights and from multi packs to sports kit. It’s totally up to you.

  • How long is the voucher valid for?

The voucher will be valid until 31 October 2026.

  • How much is post and packing?

Your voucher also includes free postage and packing. This includes shipping to your home address or ship-to-shop.

  • What do I do if I need to return an item?

All returns to Trutex are free. If you need to return any items, you can follow Trutex’s usual returns process.

When your return has been completed, Trutex will refund you with a gift voucher to your email address for the cost of the returned items.

If you spent more than the voucher amount, using the voucher and covering the additional cost yourself, Trutex will refund you using a gift voucher up to the value of the voucher code and any additional costs will be refunded to your payment method. For example, if you spent £55 and returned items totalling £15, Trutex will refund you a gift voucher for £10 and £5 returned to your payment method.

  • What happens if what I’ve ordered comes to more than the voucher amount?

If your uniform comes to more than the voucher total – you can pay the additional cost yourself.

  • I haven’t received a voucher or I haven’t received the correct voucher amount

We’re emailing voucher codes to all households with children in reception to year 11 for the school year starting September 2026 a £50 voucher towards school uniforms.

If you have a child living in a Hyde home who is not listed as a household member, you need to update your family's details using this form.

The vouchers are also available if you're a foster carer, guardian or special guardian.

We’re sending the codes in June.

  • I still need help with school uniform costs

Some local councils offer grants to help with the cost of school uniforms, especially for families with children transitioning to secondary school.

Check your local council website for details.  If they do not have a specific school uniform fund, under the Crisis and Resilience Fund, councils in England can access funding to help people most in need with the cost of daily essentials, including school clothing.

Many schools also provide help with uniform – access to grants and second-hand uniform shops. Check your school’s website for more information.

You can also look online for grants and financial support from places such as Turn2Us and Lightning Reach.

If you’re worried that buying uniform will make it difficult to pay your rent over the summer, we can help. Call our Customer Services Team on 0800 3 282 282. You can also find financial help and support.

  • I don’t shop online / don’t have access to online shopping

We know that not everybody has access to the internet. Asking friends and family for help can be a good option. You can often get free wi-fi locally, including in libraries and museums.

Online Centres Network provide access to the internet and help using it. Some centres also offer training courses. These services are usually free. Enter your postcode to search for centres in your area.

  • How are the vouchers being funded?

The vouchers are thanks to Hyde Charitable Trust and social value contributions from our partners, including Trutex.

Rent and service charges are not used to fund these.

  • Any tips on buying uniform and how to get the best out of my voucher?

You can spend all of your voucher in one purchase or split it across several purchases.

The free post and packaging is only valid for one purchase, so spending as close to your voucher amount as you can will mean you get the most out of the free post and packaging.

You can spend more than the voucher amount and pay the additional cost yourself.

If you already have some uniform items now, your voucher is valid until 31 October 2026, so you can purchase some items later in the year. You could even think ahead to next year and buy some larger sizes.
