Thousands of families have already saved on uniform costs.

Our school uniform vouchers have now helped more than 2,700 families save over £218,000 since June. They’ve bought over 25,000 items, helping children start the school year with the uniform they need while easing pressure on family budgets.

If you received a voucher from us, but you’ve still not used it, you’ve got one month left to spend it online with Trutex. The voucher is valid till 31 October 2026. Visit our school uniform vouchers FAQs page to find out how to use the voucher, what you can buy and how delivery and returns work.

Legislation to cut the cost of school uniform came into force in September, limiting compulsory branded items to three for primary pupils and four for secondary pupils. It’s estimated the changes could save families around £70 million across the country.

Hyde’s Group Chief Executive, Andy Hulme, believes that these changes will be welcome for families, but won’t do enough to remove the wider financial pressure they are continuing to experience:

“What our customers are telling us is that school uniform is one of several significant costs that they’re trying to manage. They often come after weeks of extra spending over the summer holidays and they don’t disappear once children are back at school.

“Many have said that the voucher means they can buy more groceries or household essentials, showing us the extent of difficult choices families are currently having to make. As a housing association, we’re often close enough to see that balancing act, so we should use our position to offer practical help that makes those decisions a little easier.”

The voucher programme has also shown how us how targeted support can help us build a clearer picture of who lives in our homes. To make sure we sent vouchers to families that need them, we asked customers to check and update their details on who lives in their home.

Across the two years of the programme, updated household details have helped us identify more than 1,000 children who weren’t on our records. It’s important to tell us when someone moves into or out of your home, or when your family grows. Keeping your details up to date helps us understand what your household needs and means you’re less likely to miss out on support that could help your family.
