We’re keeping you safe

Last year we carried out over 76,000 safety checks in your homes and communities

Neighbourhood Packington Estate

Your safety is our utmost priority. Last year we carried out over 76,000 safety checks in homes and communities – from gas and electrical testing, to ensuring your lift is working, and inspecting playgrounds.
We’re listening to you and your concerns and making improvements – from our new stronger, more localised approach to upgrading our door entry security systems.

Neal Ackcral, Hyde’s Chief Operating Officer, said: “We know that keeping your building secure has a big impact on how safe you feel in your home. That’s why over the next year, we’ve investing in better, more secure ways to access your home. We’re installing smart locks for our houses and upgrading to secure fob entry systems in our buildings. We’ve made this improvement to help you feel safe in every day situations – knowing doors are secure and giving you more control over who can enter.

“Everyone deserves to feel safe where they live – whether it’s your home, building or neighbourhood. And this is all part of our wider focus on improving your safety.”

Here’s a snapshot of what we do:

Neighbourhood Officers across our communities

Your Neighbourhood Officer is your eyes and ears on the ground. They’re checking, spotting and reporting safety concerns to keep you home and community safe – whether that’s ensuring that communal areas are clear and safe, checking fire safety systems or communal doors or testing communal and emergency lighting.

Last year, they carried out more than 38,000 estate inspections. They’re checking the safety of buildings and surrounding areas and then reporting any issues found onsite.

And, they’re not just checking your building, they’re also ensuring that you feel safe and supported –checking in with you if we if haven’t heard from you in a while and working with our local partners to ensure that your area is safe.

Your building is monitored, managed and protected

Ensuring that your home is safe, for example in the event of a fire, is paramount. We made 5,300 safety improvements last year and we’re constantly checking, fixing and monitoring our buildings.

We’ll now come to check and repair communal doors within four hours when a problem is reported, helping you feel safe and secure in your home. Specialist door entry equipment may take longer to repair if parts are required, but we’ll always endeavor to obtain and install these as quickly as possible.

Antisocial behaviour (ASB)

ASB can affect your wellbeing, your home and your neighbourhood. That’s why we take it seriously and act as quickly as possible when you report it.

We resolved 3,788 ASB cases last year – helping us build a clearer picture of what’s happening in your neighbourhoods. We also responded to 99% of cases within our target times.

We’ve introduced new Tenancy Management teams that are focused on specific areas so they can better understand local issues. They also work more closely with Neighbourhood Officers and local partners to tackle ASB in our communities.
