We helped more than 32,500 people last year, investing £12.8m in our communities
“It was another challenging year for the people we support and our community partners, as the impact of Covid, inflation and the increased costs of living continued to be felt,” said Felicity Hunt, our Communities & Social Impact Director.
“From food pantries to money advice, holiday clubs for children and social cubs for older people, we’ve made a difference in bringing social connection and cultivating a sense of belonging.
“The £1.25m Hyde Charitable Trust gave last year in grant awards enabled our community investment arm, Hyde Foundation, to bring about positive change for thousands of customers and neighbourhoods: preventing homelessness, supporting people’s aspirations and connecting communities.”
Requests from Hyde customers for food vouchers have more than tripled, and requests for white goods requests have increased by two-thirds, in the past few years, with HCT giving 1,000 Hyde households this type of help last year.
HCT increased its grants to community partners to £510,000 in 2023/24 year, from £393,000 in 2022/23. Hyde Foundation also provides vital long term support to partners alongside grant funding, helping them develop and grow, to create new partnerships with other organisations and to help them access new funding.
We worked with our supply chain partners to increase social value contributions, delivering £9.5m in social value and helping about 62,000 people in 2023/24. This includes £8.5m spent by suppliers that helped boost local economies and support the voluntary sector.
