We're delivering much-needed affordable housing in a great location
Along with Chartway Partnerships Group (Chartway), we’re excited to announce the acquisition of a 6-hectare site at Swanstree Avenue, Sittingbourne, for the delivery of 135 new homes.
The site, which benefits from outline planning permission, is set to be transformed into a new sustainable community where we plan to build 135 EPC A affordable homes.
The development reflects the commitment between Chartway, Hyde, Homes England and Swale Borough Council to deliver much-needed sustainable, community-focused housing.
This exciting partnership project will feature a mix of affordable rent and shared ownership homes, designed to complement the local area while addressing the need for high-quality housing in Sittingbourne. Construction is expected to start in early 2026.
This project continues the partnership between Chartway and Hyde, who have delivered housing developments together across Kent. The relationship is founded on a mutual vision for creating sustainable and accessible homes that benefit local communities and blend into the surrounding area.
As part of the delivery plan, there is a focus to work with local small businesses and enterprises to help with the development of the new homes and create real social value impact.
Steven Morrice, Development and Sales Director at Hyde:
“We’re delighted to announce this acquisition - delivering much needed affordable housing in a great location. Hyde, along with Chartway, will be delivering much needed homes and turning it into a vibrant neighbourhood.
“I’m pleased that 100% of these high-quality homes here are going to be affordable. Having a safe, warm and comfortable home is so important and is still a challenge for so many. I’m looking forward to working together to build a community that everyone can be proud of.”
Oliver Jolley, Group Chief Development Officer at Chartway:
