Work has restarted to build 163 affordable homes

Work has restarted on a scheme to build 163 affordable homes, in a prime location in North Woolwich, close to the banks of the Thames.

Following one contractor becoming insolvent, we’ve now brought in Formation Design & Build to complete the project, and work is back underway.

The new neighbourhood will include 93 homes available for people on the London borough of Newham’s housing waiting list and 70 homes for shared ownership. There will be three houses and three, 5 to 13 storey apartment blocks, plus a community garden, two communal roof terraces, and underground parking bays.

Steven Morrice, our Development and Sales Director, said: “I’m so pleased that work has restarted on this important project, and that we can bring high quality, sustainable and desperately-needed affordable homes to the area.”

The site, which is near the famous Tate and Lyle factory, has a rich maritime history that will be referenced in the names of the addresses – Anchor Point and Bowline Apartments.

The homes are due to be ready in early 2026.
