We’re working with housing providers across the country to help people living in social housing with funding and support for university.

The Social Housing Scholarships Programme launches this week, and is open to anyone living in social housing who is looking to or about to start an undergraduate degree from September 2026.

Successful applicants will receive £6,000 a year to help with living and study costs, alongside mentoring, development opportunities and access to paid work experience with housing associations.

The programme is led by Clarion Futures, working with housing associations across England, and delivered by Blackbullion. It’s open to anyone living in social housing in the UK. Applications from Hyde customers will be prioritised where they’re strong, as part of our commitment to supporting the people who live in our homes.

Going to university is exciting, but it can also come with real pressures, from managing money to navigating your future plans. This programme is designed to help remove some of those barriers and give people the support they need to take that next step.

Group Chief Executive of the Hyde Group, Andy Hulme, said: “We want people to have every chance to build the future they want. This programme opens doors that too often stay closed for talented people who simply haven’t had the same opportunities as others.

“By removing financial barriers and offering real, practical support, we’re helping people take that next step with confidence. We’re proud to be part of a partnership that’s investing in the people in our homes and strengthening the communities we serve.

“The scholars who come through this programme will bring fresh perspectives and skills into our sector, and that can only make the sector stronger in the long term."

How to apply

Applications are open from 24 April to 5 July 2026. Free online workshops are also available to help you understand the programme and put together a strong application.
