We're improving our green spaces

Pinnacle Ground Maintenance SEO

Last October, Pinnacle Group was awarded the contract for our grounds maintenance services across many of our estates. Pinnacle is ensuring the upkeep, safety and cleanliness of communal estate areas, enhancing the environment for everyone.

The team has been doing a lot of pruning and hacking back on our estates since the autumn and now, as we move into spring, we wanted to provide an update on scarifying works taking place.

Andy Hulme, Hyde’s Group Chief Executive Officer, said: “We understand that changes to your outdoor spaces can raise questions and, at times, concerns. So, we want to explain what’s happening, what you can expect in the coming weeks, and why these improvements are being made.”

What is scarifying?

Scarifying is an essential process in lawn care, involving the removal of moss, thatch and other organic matter that builds up over time. Its main aim is to ensure healthier, greener, and more vibrant lawns for everyone to enjoy.

Please bear with us – the process can make an area look worse before improvements can be seen. The process is similar to using a motorised rake, meaning that initially the grass may appear worn, patchy, and, in some places, bare. This is a normal and an expected part of the recovery process. In fact, it’s a sign that the work is being done thoroughly, especially in areas that are looking a little tired and where moss and thatch have built up.

What to expect

In the first few weeks after scarifying, the lawns might look their worst, but this is only temporary. It takes time for nature to do its work and for the grass to recover and for new growth to take hold. Typically, you can expect to see the most dramatic improvement between five and seven weeks after the work is completed, although this can vary depending on weather conditions.

Next steps

We’ve already begun work at the Denland Estate (The Bridge) in Lambeth and will be moving onto Kennington Park, Hyde Village, and Yew Court as well as other estates across Hyde.

Our teams are working hard to ensure the process goes smoothly and causes as little disruption as possible.

Please do speak to our grounds maintenance and neighbourhood teams if you have any questions.

These improvements are part of our ongoing commitment to creating greener, healthier, and more enjoyable environments for everyone and will be supported with a more regular schedule of weeding and feeding of our lawns.
