We’re supporting Gas Safety Week 2023

Posted on 11 September 2023

Our customers’ safety is our utmost priority. As a landlord, Hyde has a legal duty to make sure gas heating systems and pipework in our customers’ homes are maintained so they are safe to use.

We’re highlighting the importance of gas safety and supporting Gas Safety Week 2023 (11 to 17 September).

Stuart MacLean, Gas Operations Manager, said: “It’s so important for you to understand the importance of gas safety in your home.

“Badly fitted and poorly serviced gas appliances can cause gas leaks, fires, explosions, and carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning. CO is highly poisonous. You can’t see it, taste it or smell it, but it can kill quickly with no warning.

“A gas safety check should be carried out every 12 months. If you’re a tenant, it’s important you give our gas engineers access to your home. If you’re a leaseholder or shared owner - always use the gas safety register to find a gas engineer who is qualified to work legally on gas appliances, when servicing your gas boiler.

“By taking care of your gas appliances, you’re taking care of your home and your loved ones,” Stuart concluded.

Gas Safety Week is a national initiative, held annually by the Gas Safe Register to raise awareness of gas safety and the importance of taking care of gas appliances.
