What the group do
This group helps to review equality impact assessments (EIA) for our key policies and procedures. EIA are tools to help ensure Hyde policies and procedures are fair, inclusive, meet our residents' needs, and do not discriminate against any of the protected characteristics.
This group help to make sure that we are considering the needs of all residents in the development and delivery of services, especially those with protected characteristics under the Equality Act. They help us to make sure our services are fair, inclusive, and accessible to all. Customers have given feedback based on their protected characteristics, interests and experiences.
What they’ve been involved in and how it’s making a difference:
Responsive Repairs and Damp & Mould Policies
- Following feedback, we promoted the option for residents to request printed copies of policies and procedures – including in our Involving You bulletin
- Tenancy & Neighbourhoods teams are now carrying out welfare and property checks for vulnerable residents. These checks will also identify any outstanding repairs residents may struggle to report.
Fire Safety Management
- We’re adding more functionality in MyAccount, to enable residents to update or provide next of kin information
- We’re also developing a supporting app to ensure key staff can access this information easily via work mobiles
Digital Inclusion
- The group reviewed the ‘Welcome Pack’ given to new customers. As a result, we developed a shorter, easier-to--read version, that summarises key information for customers. This is now available in print, if required, and is helping residents who can’t or don’t use the internet.
Accessibility and Communication
- We increased promotion of Language Line across the organisation to improve access to translation and interpretation services, including customer service centre induction and the new customer handbook.
To get involved in involvement and influence opportunities such as the Inclusive Policies Group join our Customer Collective to be kept in the loop with upcoming activities.
