We support customers and communities so they can thrive, providing services that deliver long-term impact

The support Hyde Charitable Trust (HCT) provides enables our social investment team, Hyde Foundation, to bring about positive change for customers and neighbourhoods, whether it’s preventing homelessness, supporting young people and care leavers, helping people meet their aspirations and connecting communities.

  • Investing in our community centres

We invested in many of our community centres this year, with Tarling East Community Centre in Shadwell, plus Minerva Community Centre and Zander Court Community Centre in Bethnal Green, refurbished to provide modern facilities for customers, local residents and community organisations.

Work on Hanbury Street Club Room and Wodenham Gardens Community Room in Spitalfields is also underway as part of our renewal programme.

  • Helping to meet the cost of school uniforms

We supported thousands of families with primary school age children in 2025, by helping to buy school uniforms. More than 7,600 uniform items were bought from our partner, Trutex. The campaign won ‘Project of the Year’ at the WISH Awards in March 2026.

In 2026/27 we’ll be expanding our offer to include children aged 4 to 18 who need a uniform for school.

  • Supply chain partners deliver social value to customers and communities

Our supply chain partners delivered £14.8m in social value in 2025/26, via jobs, apprenticeships, volunteer hours, mentoring, work placements, financial donations, local spend with suppliers.

This compares to £27.5m in 2024/25, which was an exceptional year.

Additionally, a number of contracts ended, some of which had outstanding social value commitments. This included the cleaning and grounds maintenance contracts, which were subsequently awarded to Pinnacle Group.

  • The value of our social tenancies

The core value of our 25,641 general needs homes increased to at least £555m, or £21,656 per tenancy in 2025/26, up from at least £441m or £18,561 in 2024/25, due to inflation and growth in household income, with a higher proportion of tenants of working age and in employment.

The total social value of our tenancies this year, including the economic impact of building and maintaining homes, was at least £719m (£28,044 per tenancy), an increase from £626m (£26,361 per tenancy) in 2024/25.
