We're upgrading our electric meters

We’re replacing our existing communal electric meters with smart meters

We’re pleased to announce the rollout of our new smart meter upgrade programme across all communal electrical supplies in our blocks.

These new meters will help us deliver more accurate billing, streamline our processes and help reduce costs – all without impacting the electricity supply to our customers’ homes.

Hyde’s Head of Leasehold and Service Charge Operations, Katerina Birkeland, said: “Our aim is to improve the efficiency of the communal systems that serve our customers while making sure their electricity supply isn’t interrupted.

“For our customers, the smart meter upgrade will make sure we get more accurate, real-time billing for communal electricity use. That means customers will only be charged for what they use. This will allow us to forecast future costs more reliably, leading to better financial planning and lower charges over time.”

Real-time remote monitoring will make sure our energy suppliers can accurately record electricity use. This will make sure that the service charges our customers see are both timely and precise, reducing billing errors and any future queries.

Importantly, the installation is being done with minimal disruption. Each meter swap involves only a short outage to the electricity supply in communal areas – lasting no more than 30 minutes.

This upgrade focuses solely on the communal electric supplies. Meters inside our customers’ homes will not be changed.

With more accurate data, we become more competitive in future energy tenders, making sure we continue to secure the best rates for our customers.

Additionally, with the improved data provided by smart meters, we’ll be able to monitor consumption patterns closely, identify and fix any faults quickly and ultimately reduce costs.
