We’ve secured a new contract for laundry services at our Specialist Housing schemes

Thanks to feedback from residents through our Customer Involvement team, we’ve been able to successfully re-award our new laundry contract to commercial laundry equipment provider, JLA under improved terms.

The contract will run for seven years and if successful, extended for an additional three – totalling ten years.

James Barr, our Later Living Operations Manager, said: “We’re really pleased to have awarded this new long-term contract to JLA, which will not only deliver better value for money but also ensure our residents receive and an efficient, reliable, high-quality laundry service.”

At Hyde, we have around 300 rented commercial washers, dryers and dishwashers – most of which are in our Later Living and Supported Housing schemes.

This new contract offers improved terms with modern appliances and technologies and a highly responsive maintenance service.

A big highlight of the contract is the savings we’ll be making. We’ll be saving up to 43% on rental and operation costs. That’s savings for both us and our residents.

James added: “This partnership will generate significant savings of around £200,000 each year. That’s money that we can reinvest into the services that matter most to the people living in our specialist housing schemes. Also, our residents’ service charges for their laundry costs will ultimately be lower.”

The new contract is all inclusive. That means parts, labour and fire compliance will all be sourced and delivered through the contract.

It also includes a free annual cleaning service for cooker hoods and extraction systems in communal kitchens. JLA has also committed to deliver social value activities over the course of the contract. These may include supporting or sponsoring our scheme or neighbourhood improvement projects.
