The heat is on - the 21st anniversary London Legal Walk
A huge congratulations to our team of walkers who took part in the 21st anniversary 10k for justice
A huge congratulations to our team of walkers
Our team of 54 walkers, from across Hyde, endured the blazing heat and proudly walked, strolled and ambled with the Lady Chief Justice. They joined over 19,000 lawyers and their colleagues from over 1,000 organisations to raise funds for the London Legal Support Trust. On 17 June, walkers started off next to the Royal Courts of Justice. They then took on St James’ Park, Green Park and Hyde Park before heading back down to The Mall, past Trafalgar Square, and along the Strand to a final street party on Carey Street.
Over the last 20 years, by walking together for justice, an incredible £11.5 million has been raised, helping hundreds of thousands of people to access legal support when they need it most. In 2024 alone, this money provided life-changing legal advice to over 12,000 people.
The annual London Legal Walk is the biggest fundraising event in aid of free legal advice and support. It supports everything from law centres and Citizens Advice services to refugee specialist support services.
Once again, Emily Giles, Senior Housing Lawyer at Hyde, made time in her busy case load to organise the Hyde team. She said:
“What a glorious evening to be walking in London. I’m so proud of my colleagues. It was a tough challenge in the heat, but it was worth it for such an important cause that’s directly linked to our core business as a social housing provider. Our fundraising will help over 100 charities in London and the south east provide life-changing free legal advice.
“Over 13.4 million people live in poverty in the UK and advice providers are at breaking point. With the ongoing cost of living crisis, receiving proper legal advice at the right time is even more important than ever. It can make a huge difference to people's lives reducing their chances of facing debt, poverty, homelessness, exploitation and discrimination.”
We’re currently at 96% of our target. It’s not too late to support our team of walkers and help them reach their target of £2,000.
