Sprucing up Zander Court

Residents, volunteers and community organisations celebrated the re-opening of Zander Court Community Centre in Bethnal Green on 5 February 2026, following its refurbishment.

Zander Court holds a wide range of activities for the local community, including coffee mornings, homework clubs, sewing workshops and art sessions.

Over the past few months, we’ve been installing a new kitchen and new bathrooms, repainting the walls, and sanding and varnishing the original wood floor of the main hall.

“I hope everybody enjoys the newly refurbished Zander Court,” said Felicity Hunt, Hyde’s Communities and Social Impact Director.

“Our community centres and club rooms play an important role in bringing people together. Improving these facilities for residents means they have a great place to meet and get support, and also helps strengthens our partnerships with local community organisations.”

We’re investing in many of the community centres previously managed by Tower Hamlets Community Housing. Over the past few months, our Stock Investment team have been working with Ian Williams on installing a new kitchen and new bathrooms, repainting the walls, and sanding and varnishing the original wood floor of the main hall.

We’ve also refurbished Tarling East Community Centre in Shadwell, which re-opened in November 2025, and work at Minerva Community Centre was recently finished, with community groups moving back in during February.
