Henry Fawcett Primary School in Kennington enjoyed an afternoon to remember at its summer party celebrations.

Thanks to local performing arts school, The Boury Academy, the fun kicked off with a flashmob featuring Henry Fawcett pupils. From a stilt walker, to free healthy snacks and drinks, face painting, and sports activities, there was something for everybody to get involved with and a fantastic summer vibe.

Henry Fawcett is one of over 60 community partners that Hyde is working with to distribute over 2,000 basketballs to promote play – encouraging better physical and mental health for young people.

Hyde’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Andy Hulme, joined in the fun and said: “It’s been great to see the children enjoy the summer celebrations. Hyde has a long-established relationship with Henry Fawcett, improving opportunities for local children, families and the community.

“At Hyde, we understand the importance of not just providing great homes, but great outdoor spaces too. We also know how important play is – not just for children, but communities as a whole.

“I’m delighted to see the basketballs in action at Henry Fawcett – I’ve already seen some budding basketball stars in action. Keep up the good work!”

Rachel Harrison, Deputy Head Teacher at Henry Fawcett said: “A huge thank you to Hyde for supporting us in putting on such a great party for the children and their families. Working in a school, I can see first hand the powerful impact of play and the importance of being able to play outside. So, I was delighted to see the delivery of basketballs and new basketball hoops to create more opportunities to promote children’s health.

“And thank you to our community partners for coming too – who make such a difference in the local Kennington community, for both the children and their families.”

Community partners included: Konnect, Kennington Park Community Centre, The Boury Academy, Morley College and Be Enriched.

The event was also supported by Oval Learning Cluster, Old Kent Road Family Zone, Berkeley and Kia Oval/Surrey Cricket Foundation.
