Rochester Riverside is a £419m joint venture between Countryside and Hyde, in partnership with Medway Council, which is transforming a 50-acre brownfield site into a new riverside destination for the area, providing around 1,400 new homes along with a new primary school, nursery, hotel, 2.5km river walkway, commercial units, parking, green open spaces, play areas and landscaping.
The new homes at Rochester Riverside will be spread across four distinct new neighbourhoods and will make a huge contribution to meeting local housing need. These homes will be mixed tenure with 25% being affordable, which will make a real difference to the availability of housing for Medway residents.
The development is progressing quickly, with the first residents having moved into their homes in June 2019 following the start of construction in February 2018. Phase three is now well under way and we expect the first homes will be finished next year. In May 2021 we received planning permission for a 420 place / 2 form entry primary school, to be named ‘Rochester Riverside Church of England Primary School’.
