The benefits of regeneration
More affordable homes for Lambeth
Regenerating Bellevue Mansions will allow us to provide hundreds of homes, at least half of which will be affordable, by making better use of the space. (Photo © Jim Stephenson).
Well-designed homes
The homes we build will be designed to maximise use of space, natural light and natural ventilation. They’ll be energy-efficient, keeping bills low for residents, and easy to maintain. Most homes will be dual aspect (with views and opening windows on two or more external walls facing different directions). Kitchens and bathrooms will have a window where possible. Communal areas will be designed to be welcoming and benefit from natural light, and we’ll provide bike and bin stores.

Accessible homes
We’ll be able to provide accessible homes, adapted for residents with specific needs, with communal lifts in some buildings. (Photo © Peter Landers).
Better community spaces
We’ll provide a new, permanent home for the nursery. We‘ll also create more accessible play and outdoor spaces that everyone will be able to use, green spaces, long-lasting, high quality equipment for a range of activities (for all ages and abilities) and community gardens. Better lighting and design will help us tackle antisocial behaviour.
Green spaces that encourage biodiversity
We’ll keep existing trees wherever possible and plant native trees to encourage biodiversity, and improve natural habitats. Landscaping will encourage play in some places but will be designed for ages. The green spaces will incorporate car-free routes and will join up with neighbouring areas.
