Spring fun in Chichester
Our recent neighbourhood event brought out the spirit of community at Liberator Place
The spirit of community came alive at Liberator Place in Chichester at our recent spring event
Since we launched our Neighbourhoods and Specialist Housing service last January, we’ve been working to strengthen relationships in our communities and become closer to residents.
Local Neighbourhood Officer, Marcelo De Castro has done just that - bringing partners, residents and community leaders together for a spring event aimed at connecting people with support services, improving wellbeing, and helping to foster a stronger sense of community on the estate.
From arranging stalls, outreach and internal teams, to personally inviting residents door-to-door, Marcelo went above and beyond to make sure the event reflected what residents have told us they want to see.
Marcelo said: “I’m so proud of what we achieved today and extremely thankful for the support from our partners and my colleagues. It’s great to be able to support our residents and deliver services that matter to them.”
CLM Fireproofing sponsored the event through Match My Project, our social value matching platform. UK Harvest provided free food packages as part of their commitment to reducing food waste and supporting local families.
Age UK (West Sussex Brighton and Hove), Citizens Advice, Chichester Council’s waste and recycling department, community wardens, and West Sussex Fire and Rescue were all on hand to offer information and share practical support to residents.

County Councillor for Chichester South, Sarah Sharp, also attended, enjoying the opportunity to speak directly with residents and hear what matters most to them.
It’s great to see everyone out and Marcelo is great – always checking in and making sure we’re okay and get the support we need. Thank you to Hyde.”
Mo (resident)
Residents and partners had great feedback about the day – many praising Marcelo for putting it all together and being “the bridge between us and Hyde.”
Residents also had the opportunity to speak to colleagues about their Hyde services including ASB, Service Charges and Income, Complaints and Hyde Foundation.
To add to the fun and support, lucky resident, Mo, walked away with a £50 Tesco voucher for winning the quiz.
He said: “It’s great to see everyone out and Marcelo is great – always checking in and making sure we’re okay and get the support we need. Thank you to Hyde.”
Lesley Smith, Hyde’s Head of Building Safety and Neighbourhoods, said: “Events like these help us connect with our neighbourhoods and make support services more accessible.
“This is exactly what our Neighbourhoods and Specialist Housing service was designed to do – Neighbourhood Officers being more visible and more empowered to support our residents in ways that matter to them. Events like this highlight the impact that’s possible when we get it right.”
This event is part of our wider commitment to improving our services, becoming closer to the customers and communities we serve and delivering the things that matter most to them.
