The G15 ethnicity in housing awards, that celebrate the contributions and achievements of Black, Asian, and minority ethnic colleagues within the G15 group of London's leading housing associations, took place on Monday 16 June. Hyde was shortlisted in most categories, winning two awards and being highly commended for another.

Nivia Lawrence, project assistant and member of the Junior Board won the One to watch – Future Leaders Award. The award recognises an individual who demonstrates potential, leadership skills and are making great strides in their development and career. Nivia joined Hyde in September 2022 as a Business Administration Apprentice and is now a Business Change Project Assistant where she supports her stakeholders to ensure all change projects are implemented smoothly. She also volunteers at UNIFY, first as a Programme Manager and now as their Learning and Development Manager.

Tom Grundy, our General Counsel, won the Ethnicity Ally award. This award is for a colleague who consistently champions, and challenges non inclusive behaviours. Tom is a member of our DEI group, as well as a member of Hyde Leadership Team (HLT). He speaks Truth to power and raises the challenging and most needed conversations in places where black colleagues are not present or included.

Embrace, was highly commended in the race network group colleague award, acknowledging a colleague-led network group that has significantly contributed to the past 12 months. Embrace was recognised for their work to advance race and diversity agenda within their organisation, sector, and wider community.

Andy Hulme, Group Chief Executive of The Hyde Group and Equality and Diversity Lead for G15 said: I want to say a huge congratulations to all those colleagues who were nominated, shortlisted and won these important awards. It’s a humbling experience when we review the nominations, and it really brings home the amazing work that our colleagues are doing and the barriers they’re helping us to collectively overcome. The awards shine a light on the importance and strength that the diversity of our teams and the communities we serve brings, but also the journey we’re still on to make further progress.”
