Homes for Brighton & Hove (HfBH), a partnership between Brighton & Hove City Council and Hyde, has been preparing proposals to deliver 306 new affordable homes within the northern parcel of the permitted Sackville Trading Estate development.

The amended plans will see us replace the care community building with an affordable housing scheme of 306 affordable homes, with 183 to be for social rent and 123 to be for shared ownership.

The proposed scheme would include the following measures:

  • New Car Club bays, extensive cycle parking and bike share provision
  • Sustainable travel incentives including subsidies for bike hire, bus and rail passes and bike purchase vouchers for first residents of the homes
  • Electric vehicle charge points to all parking spaces
  • Solar PV panels and enhanced insulation to achieve an Energy Performance Certificate A rating for all the homes.

The planning application was submitted in June 2025. We hope to start construction in early 2026.
