One of our main aims at Hyde is to build more affordable homes where they are most needed. Making the best use of the land we already own is one way we can do this.
That’s why we’re proposing to redevelop 11 garage sites in and around Martlet Road, Meadow Way, North Way and Wyndham Road into new affordable homes and improved parking.
Our proposal includes:
- The redevelopment of seven garage sites to provide 19 homes for social rent
- Replacement of four garage sites with improved parking for existing residents
- Improvement of six greenspaces across the estate for biodiversity and placemaking
- Additional improvements to parking provision across the estate by reusing or formalising existing parking arrangements.
We submitted a planning application for our proposals in March 2025.
You can view and comment on the application on the South Downs National Park planning portal. The application number is 25/01421/FUL.
Next steps
We need to get planning consent before any works can start on site. Construction on site will not start until Autumn 2025 at the earliest.
Information drop-in session
We hosted an information drop-in session on Saturday 8 February at the Sylvia Beaufoy Centre.
Residents were able to view our plans and ask us and the design team questions.
