Hyde Housing Association was established in 1967 with one aim: to help people excluded from the mainstream housing market, by providing them with decent, affordable homes and managing them properly. Since that time, we have grown and adapted to meet the unprecedented challenges of the UK housing market, but our social purpose remains firmly at the heart of everything we do.
As a landlord with a social purpose, our core aim is to provide housing for those people who are unable to meet their needs on the open market. We make the things our customers care about the most simple and easy for them to do, and employ specialist expert staff to provide services to those customers most in need.
We have built up an enviable reputation for large-scale regeneration projects, transforming run down areas into attractive developments which contribute to the economy and help to sustain vibrant communities – places that people are proud to call ‘home’.
Our social investment team works hard to improve the life chances of our most vulnerable residents and help them cope with the impact of welfare reform and sustain their tenancy. Through investment in neighbourhood activities we enable our residents to enjoy a better quality of life in a stable, thriving community.
Our resident involvement is stronger than ever, we have almost 5,000 involved residents who help us shape the way we deliver services and scrutinise performance.
Environment and sustainability
We also believe that, as a business for social purpose, we should minimise our impact on the environment by creating developments with exceptional sustainability credentials.
Our financial strength
We are a commercially aware and profitable business that is transparent in reinvesting its profits to fulfil its social purpose. In the last five years we have been able to invest more than 2.5 times our annual surplus in building and acquiring homes. Our active asset management approach looks at the financial and social performance of individual and groups of properties to enable us to make the best use of our stock and improve value for money to support our core purpose.
All of our staff are committed to improving life for others, and their belief in our social purpose drives our organisation. Our investors in people Gold Award is a testament to the value we place on recruiting the right people and maintaining an engaged workforce. We value our employees and enable them to have good working lives through our award-winning staff benefits package, commitment to training and development and to the wellbeing of every member of staff.
