Amy has lived on the Phoenix estate in Brighton since she was born. She lives with her parents and three siblings in a small house and she has recently qualified as a primary school teacher.
She is passionate about supporting the local community and is actively involved in the Up My Street food hub project. She has recently taken on the role of secretary of the Phoenix Community Association as well as being an active member of the tenants’ and residents’ association (TRA).
Amy said: “I am proud to be able to help to support our local community. The food hub has allowed us to identify more people who we can support as a TRA and has allowed us to build relationships.”
The Successful Places team has been working in partnership with The Arc Centre to support vulnerable residents living in Packington. The Arc Centre has moved into the Packington Marketing Suite, converting it into a food distribution centre that is a base for providing food parcels to local residents.
Hyde’s Junior Board organised a ‘home marathon’ for staff which raised more than £5,000 for food banks in London and the south, including the Arc Centre.
