This group for older adults, living in the Lambeth area, provides a wide range of social activities and projects to improve health and well-being and prevent social isolation. There are 60 regular members and many feel that the group gives them a lifeline. The older residents enjoy taking part in a range of activities including bingo, dominoes, quizzes, Zumba classes and a choir.
Hyde’s Successful Places team deliver basic digital training skills each week. One of the participants is aged 85 and she told us: “It’s lovely being able to Skype my grandson. He’s at university and I can even check to see if his room is tidy! He thinks his grandma is cool now.”
Lesley Allen, Director of Stockwell Good Neighbours, said: “The group are very positive about the digital training. They are very proud of their achievements and are practising their new skills keeping in touch with friends and family.”
