The Hub and The Pavilion (Brent) – update June 2017
In February this year we announced that, following our community centres review and consultation, Hyde would be progressing with our recommendation to stop directly managing our community centres. However, the specific recommendation for both the Hub and the Pavilion is that for now the Hyde Foundation (formerly Hyde Plus) will continue to manage the Hub and Pavilion. At the same time we will be looking into options to reduce our costs by identifying alternative management arrangements for the future and we will be working towards a permanent alternative management arrangement for both centres to be in place by April 2018.
Over the last few months we have restructured our community centres team and we now have a smaller, more focused team working across the two Brent centres, which launched on 1 June 2017.
Over the coming months you will notice some changes to the way the centres operate, notably:
- Both centres will now be open with staff present only when we have bookings. We will clearly advertise our opening hours at the centres.
- We are currently reviewing our hire fees to ensure we maximise the income at both centres.
Over the coming months we will be working with our funders and stakeholders to discuss potential options to reduce our costs through alternative management arrangements and ensure that what we do is in line with any agreements we have in place for the buildings and services we provide.
We will follow this up by undertaking some proactive work to identify groups and organisations that may be able to take on the management of the centres. We will begin this work later in the year, however any organisations or groups who are interested in the future management of either (or both) centres should contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to register their interest.
As we progress with this work we will also meet with the groups and organisations that currently use the centres to talk to them about the potential changes and understand how we can best support them going forward.
