The Hub and The Pavilion consultation - February 2017

We launched a consultation on our recommendations for the future of each of the centres on 23 November 2016 and the consultation ended on 20 December 2016. Our recommendation for both the Hub and the Pavilion is that we will continue to manage the centres through Hyde Plus for the immediate future. At the same time we will look into options to reduce our costs by identifying alternative management arrangements for the future. This will mean that we can protect the legacy of the centres and the benefit they bring to the community and minimise the financial investment that Hyde currently makes. Ideally we would like to see a permanent alternative arrangement for both centres in place by April 2018.

What happens next?

There may be some small changes at the centres in the coming months as we are reviewing the staff team, opening hours and fees to ensure we maximise the income at both centres. However, services currently provided will continue as planned. 

Over the coming months we will be working with our funders and stakeholders to discuss potential options to reduce our costs through alternative management arrangements and ensure that what we do is in line with any agreements we have in place for the buildings and services we provide.

We will follow this up by undertaking some proactive work to identify groups and organisations that may be able to take on the management of the centres. We will begin this work later in the year, however any organisations or groups who are interested in the future management of either (or both) centres should contact us at communitycentresreview@hyde-housing.co.uk to register their interest.

As we progress with this work we will also meet with the groups and organisations that currently use the centres to talk to them about the potential changes and understand how we can best support them going forward.

We have contacted the following people so that they are aware of the decision we have taken and what happens next:

  • The local Tenants and Residents Association
  • Local MPs
  • Local Councillors
  • The groups and organisations who currently use/hire the Community Centres

We are now supporting staff affected by this decision and a 45 day employment consultation will begin shortly. We will, if possible, redeploy affected colleagues, but redundancy is an option.
