Top tips for weathering wintry conditions
- Heat your home to at least 18°C
- Put salt on your pathway to melt ice and snow
- Check on elderly or vulnerable neighbours
- Close internal doors to keep heat inside
- Give yourself extra time when travelling in bad weather conditions, and bear in mind that transport delays and cancellations increase in freezing temperatures
- Be extra vigilant if driving in snowy or icy conditions
- Be cautious when walking on untreated pavements
- Make sure that you have enough food to get you through a few days. You should also ensure you have necessary supplies of medication and essentials such as toilet paper or nappies.
