A father of two, with a new partner and step-child contacted us about his Universal Credit payments. His previous partner was named on the tenancy, but as she no longer lived there, Universal Credit would only pay 50% of the rent – something that’s known as an untidy tenancy.
The resident tried to resolve the matter himself but hadn’t been successful. That’s when his Income officer, Sarah Case referred to the case to Hyde Foundation's Welfare Benefits adviser, Carol Birch.
Thanks to Carol’s intervention, the resident has received a backdated payment of £5,365.51 and has cleared his arrears.
