Developing talented BAME colleagues

We're supporting the G15* diversity pledge to increase the proportion of sector leaders from a BAME background.

The G15’s Accelerate programme aims to develop talented BAME middle managers to help their career path. The Accelerate programme started in September 2020 with four participants from Hyde. We also have nine senior sponsors who are offering their time to participants from other leading London Housing Associations. 

Our sponsors are from various areas of the business including Housing Management, Communications, Customer Service and Development.  They meet regularly with their matched person to offer general support and the benefit of their career experience.

Director of Resident Services, David Hunter has been matched with a manager from Peabody and says: “I’m able to be a sounding board for a really talented individual who I know will make a great career for herself in Housing. This programme gives me the chance to listen to the challenges, concerns or worries facing people ready for their next career step and help them think about differently about options and opportunities than I thought of at similar times of my career.”

But it is not a one-way street as Director of Communications, Marketing and Public Affairs, Carol Jones explains: “It's a pleasure and an honour to have been asked to sponsor Rosh on this programme. We chat at least weekly and it is very rewarding to be asked to share my thoughts and experience with such a rising star. I thoroughly enjoy the experience and learn a great deal. I hope Rosh gets as much out of it as I do!".
