Launch of Brent Youth Foundation

Posted on 01 June 2016

The Young Brent Foundation is an independent organisation open to voluntary organisations delivering services to children and young people in the borough.

Sarah Willis, Hyde Plus, Programme Manager - Successful Places, and founding Trustee of the Young Brent Foundation, said: “Local groups will be able to form consortia to bid for, and run, projects in Brent. This will maximise the benefits to young people. There will also be a grants fund, enabling smaller, non-profit organisations to apply for funding to deliver youth programmes.”

The foundation will develop a ‘venue bank’ - identifying under-used and unused spaces and working to make them available for little or no cost.

Sarah added “The Foundation will also provide more support, through capacity - building events and training, so small local organisations can learn to be sustainable and  deliver valuable services to young people.”

The Young Brent Foundation was launched in April, alongside two other foundations for the London Boroughs of Harrow and Barnet, at an event hosted by the John Lyons Charity in Sloane Square, central London.
