Supporting residents to live independently

Posted on 11 May 2017

We are committed to making a lasting difference to the day to day lives of our residents by supporting them to live independently and making the best use of the facilities within their home.

Shana Pezaro has been a Hyde resident for five months and is loving being in her new home. She is bringing colour and joy to her neighbourhood by potting plants in front of her ground floor flat in Portslade, Brighton. Things, however, were very different in 2016 when Shana faced going into a temporary care home if she couldn’t find a suitable place to live.

Shana took part in our Selfie Challenge, launched to symbolise how important it is to have a front door (home) of your own. She tweeted "Behind #myfrontdoor is my new fully wheelchair accessible flat, independence, freedom, laughter and a lot of houseplants!"
