New residents welcomed into Marlborough House

Posted on 13 March 2017

Marlborough House, our extra care scheme located on Warrior Square in St Leonards on Sea and a short walk from the Hastings seafront is set, once again, to become a vibrant, thriving community.

Now fully restored after a devastating fire in 2013, the distinctive landmark building has opened its doors again, welcoming both former residents back into their homes and allocating flats to new residents.

“We extended an invitation to potential referring agency professionals to view our new improved scheme and we showed them around the building so they could see for themselves what facilities and care are on offer to new residents,” explained Resident Services Manager, Catriona Docherty.

“The accommodation at Marlborough House has been refurbished to a really high standard. The building has a lot of character and the quality of the flats and communal areas make it a lovely place to live. It is in a great location and many areas have a fantastic outlook onto the gardens and to the sea. We will be thoroughly recommending the scheme to clients who are eligible for extra care housing,” said Sophie Honeysett, Senior Housing Options Practitioner for Hastings Borough Council.

So far, 17 of the original residents who were relocated have returned and are settling in. Six new residents will be moving in soon.

The scheme consists of 40 one and two bedroom self-contained flats along with a range of communal areas including a hair salon, IT suite, lounges, laundry, buggy store, meeting rooms and a café.
