This month (October 2020), we're kicking off a major programme of inspections to help us to plan our future major works programmes.
At this stage, we're visiting our homes in Chichester, Hampshire, North Kent, Croydon, south east London and Peterborough.
A lot of the things that we need to check are outside of your home, so we won’t need to disturb you. These items include checking the condition of external and internal communal areas, roofs and chimneys, wall finishes and front doors.
However, some of the inspections we need to make are of kitchens, bathrooms, windows and doors which might not be accessible without accessing your home. If we need to access your home, we will write to you with an appointment.
This programme of inspections is to help us plan our future major works programmes and will not necessarily result in works being carried out. But letting us into your home to do the inspections means that you won’t miss out if upgrade works are required.
Alison Range, Asset Manager said: “We need to gain access to as many homes as possible to help us plan our programmes. The survey should take no longer than 30 minutes to complete. It will involve checking the condition of some items, and we will take photos for our records".
Please be assured that our surveyors will be following the latest COVID-19 government guidelines. They will be wearing masks, sanitising before and after entering your home, as well as wiping down any surfaces that they touch. They may ask you to stand in a different room to keep a two metre distance or to open doors to reduce touch points. All our surveyors will be carrying ID. Please note that a surveyor can go into a household of six without breaching the limit, if they are there for work.
If you do receive a letter from us, and are either unable to allow access because you are isolating, or if you would simply rather we didn’t visit you, please contact us.
