Dealing with noise during the coronavirus pandemic

Posted on 02 November 2020

As people spend more time at home during the pandemic, it’s likely that you will hear more from your neighbours as they are also at home more.

We understand that household noise can be irritating, so whilst we urge everyone to be considerate to their neighbours, we also ask that you are tolerant. Try to think about how noise from your home could be causing problems and upsetting others.

Here are some ways you can keep the noise down

  • When playing music or watching TV keep the volume to a reasonable level so it can’t be heard outside your home, and keep the windows closed, or use headphones.
  • If you are carrying out noisy DIY tasks, complete them during daytime hours and avoid using power tools for long periods of time.

Check out our tips on reducing sound levels.

We encourage our customers to be understanding and patient when it comes to dealing with noise and activity that you aren’t used to hearing, and show goodwill during the coronavirus movement restrictions.

However, if you are experiencing noise issues that are causing you concern, use our toolkit for additional guidance and information on what you can do.
