Committed to resident safety

Posted on 26 July 2019

Our commitment and forward thinking approach towards fire safety was highlighted at the recent CiH Conference with the debut of our Building Safety Taskforce’s fire safety video.

Fire Safety at Hyde’ showcases the hard work that the Building Safety Taskforce is doing, illustrating how Hyde really is ahead of the game – leading the way in terms of keeping residents and buildings safe.

“We are proud of our fire safety record and the work that we have been doing to keep residents safe in our tall buildings,” said Jake Le Page, Hyde’s Building Safety Taskforce Lead. “We wanted to demonstrate the work that we do with contractors and the ways of working that we are adopting, to emphasise the quality of our work and our emphasis on building safety.”

The video highlights our approach:

  • Resident safety is our top priority– more so than ever since the Grenfell tragedy
  • Our emphasis on fire safety is demonstrated by a dedicated team, which was set up immediately after the Grenfell tragedy to answer any questions that residents may have relating to fire safety
  • We have taken on recommendations which were part of the Hackitt Review

We are already seen as being an expert in this field. Not only are other housing associations encouraging us to share best practice across the sector, but the BBC has shown interest in our fire safety work – Elaine Bailey, Chief Executive, along with Jake, have appeared as industry experts on national news.
