On 16 February over a hundred organisations and young people attended the Vision for Young Londoners event at Mercers Hall, co-hosted by Hyde Plus and A Partnership For Young London, alongside London Funders and London Youth.
The event brought together a cross sector alliance of organisations including local authorities, the voluntary sector and young people to unite under a common agenda: to deliver a brighter future for London’s young people through greater collaboration.
Participants took part in a series of lively discussions and workshops, before presenting their key priorities and ideas for change to the Deputy Mayor or Social Integration, Social Mobility and Community Engagement, Matthew Ryder.
Some key themes the alliance agreed to take forward included:
- Bridging the skills gap between what businesses will need in the future and the skills and opportunities young people have.
- Effectively developing an evidence base that demonstrates impact and can inform investment and service design.
- Building stronger partnerships to ensure collaboration that solves problems and maximises resources.
A Vision For Young Londoners is a fantastic example of a cross-sector alliance, that ensures we all achieve greater collective impact. Our active involvement is part of Hyde Plus' commitment to find meaningful ways to collaborate, improve quality and invest in a better future for London’s young people.Sarah Willis, Successful Places Programme Manager
