Staff sing to raise money for St Mungo's at London Bridge

Posted on 19 December 2018

On Friday 14 December, Hyde’s newly-formed Christmas choir headed to London Bridge station to help raise money for St Mungo’s, a charity working hard to support people who are homeless.

The group of 14 Hyde staff, from different teams and areas of the business belted out traditional carols and Christmas classics to commuters and passers-by in the busy station. Tracey Allison, Hyde's Group Director of Transformation and Business Services, was on hand with other volunteers to collect loose change and fill up the St Mungo’s charity buckets.

Sylvia Macnamara, HR and Payroll Advisor, helped set up the new choir for the event and explained: “Tracey is a board member for St Mungo’s and had the idea of starting a Christmas choir. Surprisingly loads of  staff were more than happy to get involved. The morning was so much more fun than I expected and the carols put everyone, including myself, in such a good mood. It felt really good to do something for charity."

Choir member Youcef Belaid, a Hyde apprentice who joined last October, commented: "I decided to join the Christmas choir charity singalong as I thought it was a good chance to have some fun and contribute to a greater cause.  I think the event went very well as so many people loved it and joined in!".

At this time of year it can be very dangerous to live and sleep on the street alone. If you would like to donate to St Mungo's please head to their donation page.
